Vintage Photo Series – The Douglas Family

The Magellan vintage photo series would be incomplete without a nod to a true Hollywood dynasty, The Douglas Family. Kirk seen above with his wife Anna in 1956 has had a long and illustrious careerer and is one of the last surviving actors from Hollywood’s “golden age”, with his most iconic role as Spartacus. Below we have a scene of domestic bliss, as Kirk enjoys the Palm Springs’ weather with his sons Michael and Joel, from his first marriage to Diana Dill.

The area around Palm Springs, now called the Greater Palm Springs Oasis, has always been known as the playground for the rich and famous.  With the clean, dry desert being just a two hour drive from the major studios, it was an obvious bolt-hole for the movie industry.
