Vintage Photo Series – Fairmont Banff Springs – Marilyn Monroe

Throughout the years, the picturesque hotel Fairmont Banff Springs has played host to many different guests. Including many A-list celebrities. One of whom was the beautiful Marilyn Monroe. In 1953 she stayed at the Banff Springs during the filming of the movie ‘River of no Return’.

Whilst filming here she sprained her ankle. It is said that each morning the bellman would draw straws to decide who would be the lucky one to bring Ms. Monroe down in a wheelchair to her waiting chauffeured car. The injury and strapped ankle however did not stop her wearing a smile whilst completing a round of golf.
