For the second part of our vintage series featuring The Fairmont Banff Springs in Alberta, Canada (this year celebrating her 125th Anniversary), we turn our attention to the hotel staff who to our mind, are as important to a luxury property as the bricks and mortar itself. In the above shot, look for Dave Moberg, centre back, who is still a Fairmont Banff Springs employee, 51 years after this shot was taken!
Even back of house looks similar to today as the attention to detail for room service and silver service is as important as ever. This image is taken from the early 1900’s and shows the pristine kitchens of the hotel.
Afternoon Tea is an established ritual at The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel – even in the early 1900’s. Today, the property’s Rundle Lounge, with its breathtaking views over the surrounding landscape, offers 12 of Canada’s finest loose leaf teas accompanied by delectable finger sandwiches and pastries for the time honoured traditionalist. For that modern touch, you can even sip at an exclusive Matcha Martini, shaken not steeped for the modern tea aficionado.
