We are taking a journey back to Shanghai’s Golden Age of the 1920’s and 1930’s when jazz was the city’s favourite genre!
Originally founded in 1980, The Old Jazz Band, whose members are regularly attired in suave black bow ties, white button-down shirts and braces, begun playing nightly at Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai.
It is over 30 years later and the band is still rocking it today and even though they might be less active than they used to be, their fingers can still move quickly enough to blow the roof off the legendary wood-panelled Jazz Bar!
Their performances have drawn appreciative audiences including jazz fans, international travellers, celebrities and even US presidents. Bill Clinton even got on stage to play the saxophone with the veterans.
The band now aged between 76 and 88, have now made their debut on the silver screen. It follows their travels to Rotterdam, Holland to win the hearts of music lovers at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Don’t miss out on ‘the greatest adventure of the world’s oldest jazz band!’ Look out for ‘As Time Goes By In Shanghai’ coming soon to a cinema near you!
